1. Do you have any openings?

All referrals for the South Central Supportive Housing Initiative and Blue Earth County Housing Support - LTH are received from the River Valleys Continuum of Care Coordinated Entry System (CES).

2. How does the program take referrals and do you have a waiting list?

South Central Supportive Housing Initiative and Blue Earth County Housing Support - LTH does not maintain a waiting list. All referrals for the rental assistance subsidies and case management services provided by the Supportive Housing Programs must come from the River Valleys Continuum of Care Coordinated Entry System (CES).

4. Do you assist people with security deposits and/or 1st month’s rent?

Yes, but the South Central Supportive Housing Initiative Blue Earth County Housing Support - LTH is only able to assist participants who are enrolled in the programs.

5. How do your program's subsidies work?

The South Central Supportive Housing Initiative, through a partnership with Hearth Connection, is able to provide subsidies through several different funding sources. 

•Continuum of Care (CoC) rental assistance subsidies may be available for persons who meet the definition of “Chronically Homeless.” 

•Minnesota Housing Finance Agency rental assistance subsidies may be available for persons who meet the definition of “Long-Term Homeless.” 

•All of the rental assistance subsidies are similar to Section 8. They are based on 30% of a household’s income and all rental units must pass a Housing Quality Standards Inspection. An annual recertification process is performed to assure that all guidelines continue to be met (including, but not limited to income review and housing inspection). 

•All rental assistance subsidies provided through the South Central Supportive Housing Initiative require cooperation with case management services.

Housing Support - LTH is not a subsidy, rather a state-funded program that provides help with housing costs for eligible participants.  Housing Support funds may pay rent, utilities, household needs, and, under some circumstances, food and/or services for individuals enrolled in the program.
