What is a transfer station?
A transfer station is a facility which collects waste from small, locally driven collection vehicles, such as garbage trucks. The garbage trucks tip their loads onto the floor of the transfer station, and the waste is loaded into a semi-trailer for more efficient transport to a different facility. There are many kinds of transfer stations.
