Weekly Tidbits:

At this week's Board of Commissioner's Meeting, the Drainage Authority held a hearing for the Removal of Ramy Property from Benefits on CD28 (Lincoln Township).  During the hearing Kurt Deter, of Rinke Noonan Attorneys at Law,
interpreted MN State Statute 103E.805 Subd. 5 that implies the petition for removal would not release the Ramy Property from the assessments charged for the CD28 Improvement ordered on 9/8/2015, it would only apply to repairs or improvements on or after the date of the order of removal. The Board of Commissioner's, acting as the Drainage Authority, ordered the removal of benefits hearing be tabled.  For complete details, watch the recorded hearing by following this link, the hearing starts at about 1:26:00.

The Drainage Authority appointed Chuck Brandel of ISG to prepare a preliminary survey report for the improvement of branches 1 & 3 of JD09 (Le Ray Township). Mr. Brandel is already preparing a report for the main tile of JD09. Branches 1 & 3 were not included in the original petition.  There is now 2 active improvement petitions on JD09; one covering the main tile and one covering branches 1 & 3. You may view the petitions through the DrainageDB Portal under the CD28 File.

A redetermination of benefits (ROB) was ordered for CD56 (Garden City and Lincoln Townships), and the reassignment of viewers for the ROB on JD17 (Garden City Township) was also ordered. We expect the viewers to start on these 2 ditches in the next couple of weeks.

Upcoming Drainage Events:

The Minnesota Viewers Association will hold it's second seminar of the 2016 accreditation year on Thursday, April 7th, 2016 at Jackpot Junction from 9:30AM - 3PM. This session will go over how drainage watershed hydrology and hydraulic capacities can affect the benefits of the drainage system.
