Drainage update 1/14/2020

Upcoming Drainage Hearings or Meetings:

  • No upcoming hearings or meetings.

Project Updates:

  • CD48 (Cambria Twp.)  The contractor for this project is still finishing televising.
  • JD09 (Le Ray Twp.)  Televising on the southern portion of this improvement project was  recently completed.  The northern portion of this project remains to be televised and two or three small areas of tile investigation remain.
  • JD34 (Le Ray Twp.)  No updates or changes from last week.
  • CD86 (Beauford Twp.)  Crews finished with the tree clearing and ditch cleaning along portions of this open ditch system.  Water levels are considerably different from before cleaning.  The final results of this cleaning are very impressive.  We still plan on coming back in spring to fix a few side-intake concerns.  See photos below of how nice things are looking after the cleaning.cd86 clean 3cd86 clean 1cd86 clean 2

Recent Drainage Inspections:

  • CD35 (Mapleton Twp.)  Beaver issues are hopefully resolved for the time being.  We are waiting for a contractor to remove a small dam that was re-built.
  • CD86 (Beauford Twp.)  Open ditch cleaning and tree clearing should be complete for now.  The contractor will return in the spring to fix a few side-intake issues along portions of the open ditch.  It isn't easy digging and completing dirt work with the frozen ground.
  • CD28 (Lincoln Twp.)  The contractor has started hauling additional loads of dirt to repair our large side bank blow outs along portions of the open ditch.

This time of year is super busy with finishing assessments and splits of land parcels. Our inspections are cut way back until year-end paperwork is completed.  However, we still have a couple contractors currently working.

We require that all repairs to a county drainage system (tile or open ditch) be authorized by one us in the drainage office, either Craig or myself, before any repairs are made.
