Licensed Solid Waste Facilities

Overview

Blue Earth County Ordinance requires that a facility license be obtained from the County to manage solid waste within the County.

Facilities

The following facilities have a Solid Waste Management facility license from Blue Earth County:
  • Minnesota Waste Processing Company (MWPC) transfer station. MWPC is a privately owned transfer station permitted to accept mixed waste (MSW ) for processing into fuel. MWPC is the entry point for the Resource Recovery system. MWPC accepts waste from business and the general public.
  • The Ponderosa Landfill. The Ponderosa is a landfill owned by Blue Earth County permitted to accept mixed waste (MSW) for disposal. The Ponderosa also accepts residual waste from the Resource Recovery system. The Ponderosa accepts waste from business and the general public.
  • The Pilgrim Demolition Landfill. The Pilgrim Demolition Landfill, owned by Southern Minnesota Construction, is permitted to accept only construction and demolition (C&D) waste. The Pilgrim Landfill accepts waste from businesses as well as general public.
  • The Wilmarth Ash Landfill. Wilmarth Ash Landfill is owned by Xcel Energy to provide disposal for the ash generated by the Resource Recovery system. The Wilmarth Ash Landfill only accepts ash from the Wilmarth Power Plant.
