Apply for Programs
To request an application you can call our office at (507) 304-4335, or stop in our office at 410 S. 5th Street in Mankato, or apply online. The date we receive your application affects the date your benefits will start, so it’s important to turn it in as soon as possible. An interview is required for cash and food applications.

In Person
We have open intake hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. If you do not already have a financial worker, come in during these hours with a completed application and you will be seen.
If you already have a financial worker and want to apply for another program, please contact your worker to set up an appointment.
Online
MNBenefits is Minnesota's secure, online system you can use to apply for the following:
- Cash assistance
- SNAP (food support)
- Emergency help
- Child care assistance programs
MNSure is a one-stop online health insurance marketplace where Minnesotans can find and compare health plans, and choose the coverage that fits their needs. You can apply for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare through MNSURE any time during the year. Some health insurance options need you to apply during open enrollment periods.
