Mortgage Registration Tax

Overview

Mortgage registry tax is the tax imposed on the recording of a mortgage. The rate of tax is .0023 times the debt secured by mortgage (.0024 for Hennepin and Ramsey counties). Mortgage registry tax is payable to the Blue Earth County Property and Environmental Resources Department and must be paid at the time of recording.
