Septic System Operation Permits

Requirements for Permits

Septic systems that rely on technology such as aerobic treatment to assist in the treatment of the sewage in conjunction with a drainfield are required to have an operation permit. The system is relying on that technology to function and as such must be serviced at a minimum of every 6 months. These requirements are outlined in an operating permit that is renewed on an annual basis. An annual report is submitted to the County.

The use of a holding tank also requires an annual system operating permit as the sewage must be pumped from the tank. This activity is done by licensed septic maintainers. The pumping records and water meter readings associated with the holding tank are required to be submitted on an annual basis.
