Training
**New information on updated Training Requirements**  Click here to access.
DHS will be phasing in increased and new training requirements.  Those requirements go into effect based on when the license renews:

License renewal date July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2015.  (Click here.)
License renewal date July 1, 2015, to June 30, 2016.  (Click here.)

In order for licensed providers to maintain their license, each license holder must complete 8 hours of child related training annually.
  • No more than 2 hours of nutrition training sponsored by a food program will be approved
  • Online (those NOT listed below) and correspondence training will be accepted for training credit if approved by the licensor. 
  • Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) training is required in person every other year and can count towards the 16 hours of annual training.  Off-year online training is linked below.
  • Abusive Head Trauma (AHT) training is required every year and can count towards the 16 hours of annual training. 
  • CPR and first aid training is required every 2 years; when taken it can count towards the 16 hours of annual training. 
  • For training credits to be approved, the course must focus on one or more of the following topics:
    • Child Development
    • Child Abuse
    • Communicable Disease Prevention and Control
    • Parent and Provider Relationships
    • Communication Skills
    • Community Services and Resources for Children
    • Methods of Guiding Behavior or Discipline
    • Home and Fire Safety and Child Injury Prevention
    • Learning Activities
