The Blue Earth County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility and Product Reuse Center are closing for the regular season at the end of October. Remaining hours are all Tuesdays in October from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The final day of the season will be October 29.
The facility will re-open for winter appointments beginning December 3 for Blue Earth County residents. These appointments can be scheduled for Tuesdays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. until the end of February. Residents with appointments can enter through the Ease gate and drive to the back of the facility. Proof of residency (license, utility bill, tax document) will be required upon arrival. The Product Reuse Area will not be open to residents during these appointments.
The HHW Facility accepts household wastes free of charge from residents. Examples of items accepted include paint, household cleaners, yard and garden products, certain automotive products, caulking material, fluorescent bulbs, and aerosols. Many of the projects that are deemed to still be useable are set on shelves in the Product Reuse Center, where people at least 18 years of age may take them, free of charge.
The regular 2020 season at the HHW Facility will begin on Tuesday, April 7.
